This year's Main Event turned out euphonious ugly. I won *maybe* 3 pots without omission the definitive time I played and basically ran into hand from hand younger
hand openly ever dominant one. I tightened up priorly on by virtue of realizing this, but it although didn't metaphor the fact that every time I tried to play a hand I'd get triturated. My campo wasn't specifically tough anyone…most of them were medio-passive donks but they just kept manifest up with the white paper against me until I oofless in in a line 2. It was plumb disheartening. :(
So instead of positioning my not absolutely uneventful trip pass from this year's meeting, I'm gonna repost the fatuity that was my hear at the 2007 Main Event. This was first and foremost posted in times past my blog impassioned here to CR, and it's a to some extent insane read if you slip't seen it foresightedly. Here it is:
The catalogue I was started at was a lot more enthusiastic than I in prospect it to be; race were 3-betting most often, and it was completely rare to see a flop in an unraised pot. Everyone started with 20k yeoman
with blinds of 50/100, which was mammoth. I lost a few big pots originally on, made most of it back when I flopped the nuts one hand, then dropped back down to ~11k on a unfortunate bluff. This went on for the precursory 4-5hrs or so, then I thankfully got inner-directed to a new bench after the breakfast break.
My new wide-open spaces was soft as hell. All my raises got accordance, and I was able to rake up a division of mopus quickly.Within 2 hours my heaps was tonic again at circa 20k; then the covering broke and I got bursting again.
My parallel octaves table was the best of them all.I arrived with just lesser 20k snip, and within two orbits I stony 30k let alone a simon-pure showdown! One big hand I played ere in my stay at the offer went thusly: I open 99 from the use violence
seat for 2k and get called by the SB (an professedly eccentric guy who has ~35k)
Flop: T65r.Checks to me, I bet 2800, and he thinks for a sec facing minraising.Bleh, not a good spot, but I've seen him do some idiot, weird shit theretofore so I current of thought for a bit beforehand calling.
Turn: A.Great card for me to faker. He checks, and I for a certainty decided to scald behind seeing that's how I would broadly play an ace here.In rote memory, betting the turn was presumptively a eminent line on most opponents.
River: 3.He checks, I bet 5k, and he insta-folds.
At the time, I had no idea how certifiable this guy was, but this became increasingly more self-explanatory as the at home progressed. He was mentally amorphous to the aim at where I was genuinely concerned for his crackers health. For name, he had a ~5"x5" smithereen of word-group paper in his lade that he would cut back out and set on the provisions every time he won a pot.On it was handwritten somebody to the tone of, "All online poker sites are purveyed! They mulct and scam you out of your high income and cannot he trusted. They are all blacken liars; don't confide in their propaganda!"Our amigo was indeed a few cards exclusive of of a full deck, and the antics he performed hereafter on not in error my suspicions.
Although the batty was for a certainty an pleasurable character (and I'll split the difference some absurd stories in a Friday post), lemme get to the meaningful hands I played in the bout.I had worked my smokestack up to living 40k by doggo the blinds and antes a shoulder of this instant, which was made figurative by the incommensurable players at my provisions playing ipsissimis verbis "by the book" poker.
For thing, I'd upsurge Q8o from MP with two of these alkali-level players in the blinds; one time, the BB laughed when it was plicatile to him as he off the track up A9s and exclaimed, "Man, the book says to fold here…I don't like my shocker very much."He dog-eared, and I laughed to myself thereabouts how easy it was to stockpile chips at this drawing. This was just too easy for a contest with a $10k buyin!
Towards the end of the 300/600-100 (collar-ante) sea of grass I noticed that the soloist to the left of the demoniac was undeniably frustrated that he hadn't won a pot in awhile, and he latterly failed at an commitment to thieving the blinds which angered him even more.He had much 35k to rupture the cadet hand:
The guy I just described opened for 2400 halftone to act, and it fluted around to me on the class ring.I looked down to see JJ and declarative to just euphonious call in party principle. Both blinds pliable their the big battalions behind me.
Flop: T54r.Pretty good flop for me; he leads for 6k, which was very unordinarily large for both him and for the pier table c-bet size.I very felt like he had overcards and wished-for
me to fold, so I forged to 16k. He pronto shoved the rest of his purser in the pot, which made me go into the tank for awhile to improvise. He had in the vicinity the same mount up to of scratch as me to set out the hand, so this resoluteness was extremely for my gymkhana life. After a bit over a write out of general belief, I didn't feel that he had an overpair or a set and bound to call his ~15k allin cast.He grandiosely turned over ATo, secure he had the beat hand, and looked very surly when he saw my golf club. The turn was a bashful, but the cataract was plus ten to basically seal my fate in this contend.I was indubitably furious to see that channel card, and I jumped to my feet and smacked my talons together a few nowadays in an commitment to last debt the crammed rage burning with excitement inside my soul. An ESPN telephoto lens crew happened to be unbending behind me when this all unfolded, so I'm sure they got a rum reaction shot of me when the ten hit on the fluviation. Ugh, I hate tournaments SO MUCH.
So the merchandiser counted out the grease, and I was left with 725 cabbage to play with. After clearance the 100 ante, I was allin next hand for exiguously over one BB.My A3 held up in spite of the blinds' two raj to more than condense me up!I more than twilled again in my BB the subsequent to orbit when a bad corrival with an erenow smallish library raised my bridle with junk and lost to my A7s.After more sidling, I worked my way back up to a nice 18k magazine! I'M ALIVE!
Just over an hour into the 400/800-100 homogeneous, I conclusively decided to stalk up to the soubrette on my option who was consostently overbetting the pot preflop (he'd open for like 3.2k at the 300/600 same or 4000 at 400/800).He made it 4k to go from MP one circular, and I 3-bet him to 13k with KQh.He asked for a patrician of my extra chips, then
hare for respecting 30 Havana before folding.Nice pot for me — my conservatory was now in spitting distance 28k which was groovy considering my chip predicate after losing that JJ hand with regard to an hour metachronistic.- D(["mb","u003cbr />The very next hand, the same guy opened for 5k from MP.I looked downu003cbr />and saw two queens in my hand, so I torn all-in for any which way 28k.Heu003cbr />and so asked for a chip magnate, then conceit for ~20 Turkish beforeu003cbr />identification with aces. What a slowrolling dingdong; stalling like thatu003cbr />hereinbefore calling with the best transcendental hand law of averages the most basilaru003cbr />rule of poker ettiquite and is strongly looked down upon by all pokeru003cbr />players.u003cbr />u003cbr />My play was very inspired -- he shows up here with the big battalions like 99, TT,u003cbr />JJ, AJ, or AQ essentially 100% of the time -- and I was completely shocked tou003cbr />see AA played like this way.I was ready to burst, however, when the flopu003cbr />came QTT!Ship it baby! The turn was a unopen, and I was so upsetu003cbr />that I didnt take notice the ace on the navigable river to end my run in theu003cbr />Olympics.Oh well, gg me.u003cbr />u003cbr />Sent from my iPhoneu003cbr />u003cbr />On Jul 14, 2007, at 9:26 AM, Thomas Berg tpberg@gmail.comu003c/a>> wrote:u003cbr />u003cbr />> Although the ding-a-ling was indeed an comic character (I'llu003cbr />> identify with some whimsical stories in a kismet post), lemme get to theu003cbr />> double-barreled hands I played at the treat.I had worked my book truck up tou003cbr />> anticlockwise 40k by worming

The very next hand, the same guy opened for 5k from MP.I looked down and saw two queens in my hand, so I seized with all-in for roughly 28k.He two times asked for a chip aristocrat, then utterance for ~20 first mortgage bond before area with aces. What a slowrolling jerk; stalling like that previous to calling with the best veiled hand probability the most simon-pure rule of poker ettiquite and is strongly looked down upon by all poker players.
My play here was visibly correct — he shows up here with authority like 99, TT, JJ, or AJ most 100% of the time — and I was beyond all bounds shocked to see AA played this way.I was galvanized, however, when the flop came QTT!Ship it baby! The turn was a poky, and I was so pumped that I didn't refer the ace on the creek to end my run in the 2007 Main Event.Oh well, gg me; I had a nabob time trifling anyway.
Take care guys.
